Literacy
Holly Haycraft
My name is Holly Haycraft, and I am beginning my first year at Kohl and 26th year as an educator. I am very excited to be part of the Kohl team as the Literacy Interventionist. Reading is my passion, so I look forward to supporting the students at Kohl with their reading skills. I believe every child deserves to read!
I grew up in Minnesota and am the oldest of five children. I attended Minnesota State University Moorhead where I received a degree in Special Education. Upon graduating, I moved to Houston, Texas where I started my teaching career. After teaching Special Education in Texas for five years and receiving my masters degree, I moved to Colorado Springs. While in Colorado Springs, I pursued my elementary education licensure and spent 11 years teaching Special Education and 3rd-5th grades. I then returned to Minnesota for a couple of years, but I missed Colorado and came back in 2015.
I truly love living in Colorado! I enjoy hiking in the mountains, paddle boarding, snowshoeing, and biking. I also love to read and try to read for enjoyment every day. I am a huge Minnesota Vikings fan (Broncos #2) and love watching football. Every summer, I spend a week volunteering as a “guide” for the organization For the Children, Royal Family Kids Camp. This organization provides camp for children in the foster care system. I love spending time with these kids and watching them be able to be “kids” despite the challenges they have faced in their lives.
This summer I spent time in Minnesota visiting my mom, going on walks with her dogs, paddle boarding, and attending a Minnesota Twins game. I also visited my cousin, her family, and aunt and uncle in Des Moines. We relaxed, celebrated a birthday, and spent hours floating in the neighborhood lake, my favorite thing to do in the summer.
I am excited to be a part of the Kohl team! This is going to be a great year!
