Kindergarten

Kohl's full day kindergarten program provides an opportunity for students to learn through play. For many students this may be a first introduction to a school environment. Our teachers place a big emphasis on social and emotional skills along with teaching the curriculum. Students are also exposed to art, music, technology, and physical education throughout the week. Biography:

I’m a southern girl, just living in a Colorado world! Both my husband and I are originally from Louisiana and now we have lived in Colorado for many years! I have two children and a sweet dog that keeps us pretty busy all year long. I have been teaching for many years (too many to count!) with 18 of those years right here at Kohl. I have taught all primary grades and love teaching Kindergarten! I have a Masters in Teaching and I am a National Board Certified Teacher. My passion is literacy and I love hugs! I also love spending time with my family and friends especially when we are watching football! Both of my children went through Kohl and now my daughter is a senior at Broomfield High and my son is a senior at Colorado School of Mines. This is a great school and a great community to be a part of and I’m looking forward to another great year at Kohl Elementary and meeting all of the wonderful families….GO COLTS!

Biography:

Hey Colt Community!

This is my fourth year as a Kohl Colt and eleventh year teaching. I’ve spent ten years teaching Kindergarten and one wonderful year teaching my “Second Grade Squad.”

I am happy to call Kohl Elementary my home and am most proud of the whole child learning approach we embody at Kohl. I am looking forward to another year of fun, laughter, learning and making memories together!

I received a B.A. in Psychology and an endorsement in Elementary Education from CU Boulder. I’ve worked as Special Education Para, have my ESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) Certification K-12. I started teaching full day Kindergarten in Green Valley Ranch.

I was then accepted to the University of Colorado Denver and simultaneously hired in BVSD. The rest is history! I am proud to share that I received my Master’s in Literacy K-12 and aspire to continue lifelong learning. This summer, many of us participated in the AIM Institute training for dyslexia and reading instruction and I can’t wait to get back to teaching our littles their letters!

My husband Michael and I live in Broomfield with our three year old fur baby Sushi. She loves to help us play board games (rolling dice is her favorite), cook dinner (especially eating accidental floor scraps) and “help (catch grasshoppers) in the garden” while we are harvesting the vegetables!
