Julie Kochevar
Hello Kohl Colts!! Welcome back to the 2021-22 school year! I am so excited to see you all again.
My name is Julie Kochevar. This year will mark my 17th year at Kohl and my 31st as a teacher. I am thankful to be a part of the Kohl community. We have an amazing group of staff and families that make Kohl the best place to learn and grow in Broomfield!
I am excited to return to 4th grade this year. I have taught 1st-4th grades and have loved them all, however, 3rd and 4th grades have a special place in my heart.
I am a Colorado native, born in Julesburg and raised in Broomfield. My husband (also a Broomfield native) and I chose to raise our family here as well. All four of our children, Abigail (26), Sarah (24), Josh (21) and Rachel (19), as well as my husband (kindergarten) are former Kohl Colts. I attended Emerald Elementary, Broomfield Junior High and Broomfield High School. I have a BA (Elem. Ed) from UNC, Greeley, an MA (Literacy) from Lesley University, and a license endorsement in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education from CU Boulder.
Some of my favorite things include reading, walking my dogs, Thor and Loki, spending time with my family and friends and escaping to the mountains to relax. I love Mexican and Italian food (I can never decide which is my favorite), I love sweets- mostly cookies (have you tasted Crumbl?), and coffee in the morning is a must! I am looking forward to traveling more often in the future. My favorite trip was a cruise to the Mediterranean (Greece, Cyprus, Israel, and Italy) a few years ago for our 25th anniversary. We are also big Disney World fans! It’s definitely a family favorite and seems to be even more fun with the kids all grown up!!
I am looking forward to the best year yet at Kohl with all of you!!
Lindsey Storm
Hello Colts, My name is Lindsey Storm, I am happy to be part of this community, I am one of many new faces to join Kohl this year. You can find me down in 4th grade. I am going into my 5th year teaching. Before I became a teacher, I worked with students and learners in many environments as a zookeeper, outdoor educator, trail crew manager, executive functioning coach, and trip leader in Fiji, New Zealand, China and most recently Puerto Rico.
I grew up in Illinois, and moved to Boulder, CO in 2016. After getting my teaching license and Masters in Education, I moved abroad to Colombia for a year and taught 3rd grade. I spent 3 years in St. Vrain, before joining Bvsd this year. On the weekends (depending on the season) you can find me outside- mountain biking, camping, watering my plants, snowboarding, paddle boarding, casually biking around Boulder, drinking chai tea lattes and seeing live music.
I believe there is power in the voices and experiences of young people. This year, I will support students to feel connected, accepted, and capable of change.
