Biography:

Hello Kohl Colts! I am thrilled to be returning to Kohl this year! I have taught both kindergarten and first grade, I began teaching in 2018 and this will be my 3rd year teaching 1st grade here in BVSD. I began my teaching career in Jeffco public schools where I was honored to receive the Exemplary Performance Values Award in my second year. This recognition further fueled my passion for teaching and my commitment for providing the best for my students. I graduated from MSU Denver with a degree in Elementary Education, where I was able to spend part of my student teaching in Zurich Switzerland. I recently earned my master's degree in Literacy Education from CU Denver, along with my Reading Specialist endorsement.

I am passionate about early childhood education and deeply committed to my own growth and learning. My work is grounded in the belief that all children are capable learners, each bringing unique gifts to the classroom. I strive to cultivate an inclusive environment that integrates curiosity, play, and creativity into the learning process.

When I am not teaching, you can find me enjoying time with my family. We love spending our time outdoors, whether it's hiking, paddleboarding, or skiing. I also enjoy hot yoga, seeing live music, and cherishing moments with my close friends and extended family.

I have dedicated myself to making this my absolute best year of teaching yet. This year the children in my class will undoubtedly receive an amazing education filled with joy, critical thinking, and the support needed to bloom into their best self. Go COLTS!!!!

Biography:

Hello Colts! I am Dr. Henry :)

I am so excited to be returning to first grade at Kohl for my fourth year! I grew up in Boulder and have loved living in this beautiful state. I enjoy hiking, biking, morning walks, and quality time spent with my family. I am the second oldest of 5 kids. I always thought I came from a big family but my wife is one of 11! Safe to say that family gatherings are always a little crazy (like a first grade classroom can be).

I completed my doctorate degree over the summer so I can official go by Dr. Henry :) My focus was to better understand the self-regulated learning process in elementary aged students to better support differentiated learning needs. I am looking forward to supporting students in all areas of their lives, not just academically. I believe learning and school can be exciting, fun and a safe place to be yourself!

When I’m not teaching, I love to spend time with my wife, Emily, and our three dogs, Chuck (little brown), Nugget (big brown), and Aggie (black)! We are expecting our first baby this fall which we are incredibly excited about! I can’t wait for the school year to begin and meet you all!
